Earpiece Balance Bench L/R

Plays test tones through one earpiece at a time, listens with your microphone, and compares left against right for overall loudness, frequency balance, phase and distortion.

1 · Setup

  1. Do not wear them during the test. Set system volume to about 30–50%.
  2. Turn off Windows audio enhancements, spatial sound, and any EQ (including Equalizer APO) for the headphones while measuring.
  3. Hold both nozzles side by side, touching the mic grille, at the same distance. Keep still and quiet.
  4. For a more trustworthy result, run a second pass with the earpieces swapped so placement errors cancel out.

4 · Balance EQ for Equalizer APO

Mic placement makes treble readings less reliable, so by default corrections fade out above 8 kHz. Bands that were too quiet to measure get no correction.

Save as LR-balance.txt in C:\Program Files\EqualizerAPO\config\, then add Include: LR-balance.txt to config.txt (or add it in the Configuration Editor). Place it after any headphone EQ so it applies on top.
